The Bereavement Care Provider is responsible for providing emotional support to both children and adolescents as well as adults that have been affected by substance use in the family, especially related to overdose loss. This position will be based out of the Philadelphia Department of Public Health’s Division of Substance Use Prevention and Harm Reduction (SUPHR)’s Bereavement Care Team but will also be expected to collaborate with other teams in the division such as Harm Reduction, Community Outreach, and Philly LIFTs (Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome Intervention). The Bereavement Care Provider will provide telephonic and in-person crisis intervention, grief counseling, and other support as needed primarily to individuals affected by drug-related deaths. This position requires a high level of clinical responsibility, integrity, and initiative.

The Youth and Family Counselor is responsible for providing emotional support to children and adolescents that have been affected by substance use in the family, especially related to overdose loss and neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS). This position will be a dual role between the Bereavement Care and Neonatal Abstinence Support teams based out of the Philadelphia Department of Public Health’s Division of Substance Use Prevention and Harm Reduction (SUPHR). In working together, the goal is to help coordinate and improve the provision of emotional support for children and adolescents affected by substance-related trauma. This position requires a high level of clinical responsibility, integrity, and initiative.

The Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH)’s Substance Use Prevention and Harm Reduction Division is hiring a Public Restroom Specialist (CDL/NON CDL) who will be responsible for servicing and maintaining public restrooms. The individual filling this position will coordinate daily with city partners to assure units are cleaned, safe, accessible, and supplied with toiletries. The Public Restroom Specialist will also be responsible for creating and sending daily reports on the conditions of the public restrooms and identifying areas of concern. Individuals filling this position must be comfortable working with vulnerable populations. The Public Restroom Specialist will work closely with staff in the Health Department, the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual Disability Services, the office of Homeless Services, the Department of Public Property, Parks and Recreation, CLIP, and the Opioid Response Unit in the Managing Director’s Office.

This position is responsible for providing programmatic leadership within the Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH)’s Division of Substance Use Prevention and Harm Reduction (SUPHR). Emphasis is placed on overseeing outreach services and education outside of the Kensington neighborhood, with a particular emphasis on racial equity. The person filling this position will work closely with the Harm Reduction and Environmental Services managers and collaborate on outreach initiatives. The Community Engagement Program Manager will report to the Deputy Division Director of SUPHR and work closely with staff within the Division, community-based organizations, and other city and state government agencies.

The Bereavement Care Provider is a full-time position with the Philadelphia Dept of Public Health, based 3 days/week with the Division of Substance Use Prevention and Harm Reduction and 2 days/week with the Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office (MEO). The Bereavement Care Provider will provide telephonic and in-person crisis intervention, grief counseling, and other support as needed primarily to individuals affected by drug-related deaths as well as individuals affected by other sudden or traumatic deaths. This position requires a high level of clinical responsibility, integrity, and initiative.
Ideal candidates will have clinical experience and expertise in grief and loss. Clinicians and practitioners of color, LGBTQIA+ people, those with disabilities, and others with lived experience as part of marginalized communities are encouraged to apply.
